Not often the prettiest of places, but mangroves are one of the most valuable ecosystems in the world. 

Unfortunately, they're in a vulnerable state globally, but particularly in Australia. They're at threat due to urban expansion and agriculture (especially Queensland, which are experiencing large-scale mangrove loss along the Great Barrier Reef coast).
